A special display celebrates the 800th anniversary of the 1225 Magna Carta:
visitors to Lincoln castle have the rare opportunity to see three of the most important documents in British legal history side by side.  To celebrate the 800th anniversary of the 1225 Charter of the Forest, visitors can step into the past and experience an extra special display bringing together the 1225 Charter the 1215 Magna Carta and the 1217 Forest Charter.  Whereas the legendary Magna Carta declared that kings had to act within the rule of law, its equally important companion document the Charter of the Forest reclaimed land for use by ordinary people.

Lincolnshire county council's crackdown on rogue traders:
New figures reveal that more than 670,000 illicit cigarettes were removed from Lincolnshire’s streets last year, as the council steps of its war on rogue traders who put residents’ health at risk.  This represents a 150% increase compared to the year before.  68 shops selling the counterfeit products were served closure orders last year.  This huge leap in shop closures and seizure of goods, is the result of effective joint working and intelligence sharing between Lincolnshire County Council trading standards officers Lincolnshire Police and other partners.

Share your views on local childcare:
Lincolnshire families are being asked to complete a survey to help gauge demand for and availability of childcare places in the county.  The County Council is working to ensure there are sufficient childcare places for working parents; parents studying/training; for children with special educational needs and for children to access their funded entitlement.  Although the authority does not provide childcare directly, it works closely with private, voluntary and independent providers and schools to shape and support the development of local provision. This is to ensure it is flexible, sustainable and responsible to the needs of the community.
