NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH REPORT FOR OLD BOLINGBROKE SEPTEMBER 2021.

Once again it has been a very quiet time in Old Bolingbroke for NHW but please do not become complacent.

To keep your property safe try becoming a creature of habit.

Make sure you close and lock all your doors and windows even if you are only going out for a short time.

Remember burglars are often opportunistic thieves who prey on houses and property.

They seek out any openings that they can take advantage of, specifically, doors and windows that are left open or easy to force.

Double lock any door .

Make sure that any valuables are kept out of sight.

Keep handbags and keys out of sight and away from a letter box or cat flap. A thief could easily hook keys or valuables through even a small opening.

Never leave car documents or ID in obvious places.

In the evening shut curtains and leave lights on.

If you are out all day then it’s advisable to use a timer device to automatically turn lights and a radio to come on at night.

Set your burglar alarm and CCTV.

Make sure all side and front gates are closed and locked where possible.

Make sure your sheds, garages and outbuildings are securely locked.Always use good quality shackle padlocks to reduce the risk of them being bolt cropped.

Never leave a spare house or car key in a garage or shed.

Let’s make it as difficult as possible to keep these intruders out and your property safe.

If you see or hear anything suspicious, please ring it in on a 101 immediately to give the police a chance to attend.

If a car is involved, please get the car registration number, make and colour.

Also, the description of anyone committing the crime.

Please stay alert and vigilant at all times to keep our village a safer place to live.
