May 2022
NHW REPORT MAY 26th 2O22.
Once again these last two months have been very quiet in our village for NHW.
We must not become too complacent and we still need to continue to remain
alert and vigilant .
Cold Callers .
We had a male cold caller trying to sell aerial photographs of village
houses on our doorstep a couple of weeks ago.
Once again I explained that we are a no cold calling village and politely sent him on his way. I think we were the only house he managed to called on.
If nothing else these people are very persistent and keep coming back.
This is the second caller trying to sell photographs in the last couple of months.
Please do not be tempted to buy or employ at the door from uninvited callers .
The aim of No Cold Calling is to discourage rogue traders from targeting vulnerable and elderly residents in our village .
To report a cold calling incident you must contact Citizens Advice Consumer Services
on 0808 2231133.
They will then refer all relevant reports to The Trading Standards Team.
Since our last Parish Council meeting there have been a number of reported incidents of rural burglaries .
These have taken place at both commercial and residential locations.
Also a report that there have been an increase regarding cable thefts.
In April a report of males in a drop side waggon possibly an 08 plate in local Sibsey area trying to sell tarmac to commercial properties.
Also in April there was an attempted burglary in Stickney village area during the early hours of the morning and other suspicious activity reported.
Please remember these burglars are often opportunist thieves who prey on houses and property.
Please make sure your property and outbuildings are made secure to keep these intruders out and your property safe.
If you see or hear anything suspicious please ring it in on 101 immediately to
give the police a chance to attend.
