COMMUNITY UPDATE |
We encourage all residents to call and report any issues where they live so that we can deal with any issues and step up our patrols in the area.
If you feel that there are other issues affecting you or your local community that should be given priority, please inform your local Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Day of action
On 13/06/22 South Wolds neighbourhood Policing team held a day of action t target the four main factors which contribute to road traffic collisions which result in people being killed or seriously injured, these are the fatal 4.
1.Speeding
2. No seat belt
3. Use of mobile phone
4. Drink/drug driving
Over 500 vehicles had their speed checked by officers using handheld speed monitoring equipment. Four people were found to be marginally over the speed limit and were educated with words of advice. Four people were issued with traffic offence reports. The locations targeted on this occasion were, Wragby, Hemingby, Baumber, Thimbleby, West Ashby, New York, Woodhall Spa, East Keal, West Keal, Coningsby and Sibsey.
Our local communities asked for speeding to be one of our local priorities this quarter and we will continue to target these offences and strive to make Lincolnshire the safest place to live, work and visit.
Multi agency resident’s engagement
On 30/06/22 there was a multi-agency walk about in Centurion Park, Horncastle. Local Neighbourhood Policing were joined by the Platform Housing Officer and their maintenance team. Also present was a local Town and County Councillor and a representative from Highways. The event was organised to give local resident’s the opportunity to raise any issues or concerns and was well received.
Roads Policing
On 14/06/22 two vehicles were seized in the Horncastle area by officers from the Roads Policing Unit. The drivers were reported for driving with no insurance and other traffic offences. By using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology one of the vehicles seized was identified to have been displaying cloned number plates. We will continue to use technology to make the roads of Lincolnshire safe and ensure that there is no where for people using vehicles unlawfully to go.
Vehicle nuisance
On the evening of 20/06/22 whilst on patrol in the Sausthorpe area a vehicle was observed by Police being used in an antisocial manner. The driver was reported for traffic offences and issued a formal warning under section 59 of the Police reform Act. This means that if the vehicle is used in a manner likely to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public again within the next 12 months the vehicle will be seized.
Driving offences
During routine patrols on 27/06/22 a vehicle was stopped by officers due to the manner of their driving. The driver was reported for traffic offences and the vehicle was seized.
In August 2021 PCSO Jad was performing speed enforcement in Woodhall Spa. Whilst he was in the process of giving words of advice to a driver in a stationary vehicle about a separate matter the driver became verbally aggressive and deliberately struck PCSO Jad with his vehicle as he fled. PCSO Jad did not require medical attention . The driver was later arrested. On 01/07/22 the driver attended Boston Magistrates Court, pleading guilty to assaulting an emergency worker and failing to stop. The Court awarded the driver 3 points on his driving licence and ordered him to pay £621 in fines.
Indecent exposure
On 25/06/22 police received a report of a male who had exposed himself to a group of youths in Wragby. A media appeal has identified a suspect who has been arrested and released on conditional bail whilst our enquiries continue.
Op Raptor
Under Op Raptor, Lincolnshire police welcome the surrendering of firearms and weapons.
This has encouraged four firearms and other bladed articles to be taken out of circulation.
Op Signature
This is an ongoing operation which identifies and helps vulnerable people who may have been or could be a victim of scam / banking fraud. Some reports are passed to police via Action Fraud, who may have taken the initial report. This will result in a member of the neighbourhood policing team making a face to face visit to the victim. Fuller details of the crime are obtained, with further safeguarding measures put in place. These could include; a telephone call blocker, ‘No Cold Calling’ signs, scam awareness packs, alert relative/friends
