Neighbourhood Watch Report May 2023 .
This is the first time I do not have any village NHW incidents to report .
We must not become too complacent and we still need to remain vigilant and alert especially after having six garage break ins in January.
After the garage break ins a lot of villagers improved their properties with extra security.
Please make sure all your properties are made secure at all times.
With the onset of summer make sure you do not leave your garage , shed or outbuilding doors open to allow the would be criminals the opportunity to see what you have inside and come back at and steal at a later date .
Scams.
Please be aware of the many scams that are circulating at the moment. This is the time of year when criminals are targeting people booking their holidays on line.
Advice from Lincolnshire Police is if you are thinking of purchasing anything on line follow Action Frauds Advice to avoid falling victim to fraudsters and always trust your gut instincts.
Remember if the offer seems too good to be true , it probably is.
Lincolnshire Police are encouraging people to remain vigilant and alert of reports of fraudsters calling members of the public posing as Police Officers .
Victims are being asked to transfer money from their accounts to another by crooks
Impersonating law enforcement .
In one case the criminals spoofed an old Lincolnshire Police number to try and trick those they are trying to con.
Often it’s the elderly who are targeted.
Please make elderly relative and friends aware of this fraud.
If you receive a call you are unsure hang up and ring 101 . Alternately you can call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 .
If you see or hear anything suspicious in our village please report it to Lincolnshire Police immediately on 101 to give them a chance to get to the incident.
