Minutes of the Ramsden Hall Village Committee Meeting held on 14th January 2020
Those present: Rowland Alexander, Roy Hallam (Chair), David Makins, Yvonne Norbron, Pam Powell,
Debs Talmage, Carol Wilby
There were no members of the public present.
Apologies: Julia Alexander
Declarations of Interest: None were declared by those present
Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were to be signed as correct.
Matters arising: None
Finances:
• Rowland stated that the bank balance for the fourth quarter was £11,762.43, petty cash £61.34. David checked the bank statement.
• £3000 had been put into the joint VH/PC account
• Income: Regular renters: Election £192; Opwall £585; Lunch Club £415; Craft Fair £172; Motown £392.
• Expenditure: Utilities : Electricity £29.39 (Oct); £40.64(Nov); £87.16 (Dec); Firestop £42 for PAT testing; £58.56 for fire extinguisher testing; Motown £64.45 disco lights; £130 singer’s fees
• Rowland has applied for rate relief for this year
• Debs reminded us that Andy Evans mended the food warmer at a cost of £16. It was agreed should be given this and that a donation of £25 should be given to his BLESMA charity fund as he had not charged for his services.

Cleaning and Maintenance:
• In Spring the outside needs tidying. It was agreed to ask for volunteers to help with this task.
• Carol and Debs had cobwebbed, cleaned the floors and cleared the cupboard in the gents toilet. Bruce and Debs had cleaned the toilets.
• Pam proposed that we get quotes to fill in the end of the hall with a door and partition. A lot of heat is unnecessarily lost when the main front door is open and the heating is on. After discussion this was agreed.
Bookings:
• Usual hall bookings continue
• Opwall for a conference January 18th 2020.
• FOBC January 23rd 2020
Proposed extension to the Hall • In her capacity as Chair of the PC Pam was meeting Neil Dowlman, Architect at the hall on January 20th 2020. Village Hall Open Day • This was to be part of the National Village Hall Open Week. • Carol had received information from Sam Smith and sample paperwork • Ian Carrington and Jan Allen are to attend
• The village plan group and others will also participate • The hall will be open from 10.30am-3pm • A light lunch will be provided • Posters and flyers will be put around the village
Planned Events/Fund Fundraising
• Quiz nights 7th February Pam and Carol, April David Makins, June John Taylor, September Bruce Talmage, November Brian Grant.
• Opwall conference April 23rd 24th 25th
• Plant sale May 17th
• Tea dance June 20th 1pm-5pm
• Motown evening after Easter (?)
• Opwall Christmas lunch 20th December
• Bluestones band, Roy to ask Andrew Chambers and Mark Tong about venue and dates respectively
